Vieux-Lyon et Presqu’Ile is an area of the town of Lyon that I have been painting for many years ever since I covered the trial of the Nazis war criminal Klaus Barbie in 1987. When I wasn’t working for CBS News and the Observer newspaper during the trial I was able to explore Lyon and discover the glorious Renaissance architecture, the bustling squares, the restaurants, museums, shops, libraries and soak up the atmosphere and life of the town. The book is a personal view and I have written about, drawn and painted the people and the places that have excited me for more than 35 years. My text is in French and English.
